Brittini, there are many definitions for the word hero but the one that came to mind when I read your essay is "someone who goes above and beyond". After reading your essay I realized that YOU too are a hero. Anyone who writes from the heart as you have, especially at such a young age, is (or should be) a hero in the eyes of all. God Bless you. This is truly one of the most appreciated awards this site has received! It is awarded to Brittni, for her essay, "What Is A Hero." Brittni is 12 years old, and our granddaughter. Thank you Mary from the bottom of our hearts. Here is what Mary sent with the special award.

"I created this award especially for Brittni and may put it on my awards page at a later date. The image is Canadian soldiers "going over the top" at Vimy Ridge during WWI. My mother's cousins were among those men, so I am very proud of this award. Brittni is a remarkable young lady. She has seen something that many of her peers will never even hear about. She sees through the eyes of a writer."
